Women's Ranch Bronc Championships
Est. 2016

Legacy and Mission
Women have been part of bronc riding since the late 1800s, when rank colts and ranch work turned into public contests. By the early 1900s, riders like Fannie Sperry Steele, Lucille Mulhall, and Bonnie McCarroll were riding powerful broncs and setting records. Nearly one-third of all rodeos once offered women’s bronc events.
ā
āBy the 1930s, public attitudes shifted, and opportunities for women faded, even as headlines tried to push them out of the arena. Yet the grit of these early trailblazers never disappeared. Their determination kept the tradition alive and paved the way for the modern resurgence of women’s ranch bronc riding.
ā
āThe Women's Ranch Bronc Championships (WRBC) was founded in 2016 by the McElroy's to bring back and empower the next generation of female ranch bronc riders. Born from the determination of young women seeking a space to compete outside of the male-dominated arena, WRBC has grown into a premier platform where women compete fiercely and make history in the sport that they love.
ā
āāThe Women's Ranch Bronc Championships' main goal is to help female athletes of all ages and backgrounds reach their dreams as ranch bronc riders. The vision matured into what is now internationally known as the
Trail to Cheyenne Tour.
